On September 18, 2026, a veterinary rehabilitation technology team released its latest 3D-printed small animal orthotic device in Jiangsu, using fused deposition modeling and biocompatible high-strength polymer, the product can be custom-fabricated and delivered within 48 hours after 3D scanning.
Clinical follow-up data on 78 pet patients with post-surgical limb support needs showed that the custom orthoses provided stable immobilization while preserving 35% more natural joint mobility than traditional external bandaging. Pets wearing the device regained full weight-bearing ability in an average of 21 days, compared to 35 days with conventional bandage treatment. The modular design allows owners to adjust tightness easily at home without returning to the veterinary clinic, and the lightweight structure at only 85g does not restrict normal daily movement for cats and small breed dogs.
This orthotic system also supports dynamic adjustment during different rehabilitation stages. Veterinarians can modify the support angle and stiffness as the pet’s muscle strength improves, avoiding secondary injury caused by long-term rigid fixation. The product has been widely applied in post-operative care for cruciate ligament repair, patella dislocation correction and distal limb fracture recovery, helping more pets return to normal activity faster without long-term restricted movement.
