On August 21, 2026, in Chengdu, China, a biomedical materials R&D team announced that its independently developed biodegradable small animal orthopedic suture anchor system has obtained international veterinary medical device certification, and will begin large-scale clinical application in 42 European companion animal hospitals in September. This small animal orthopedic suture anchor is made of polylactic acid-glycolic acid copolymer (PLGA) composite modified with medical-grade hydroxyapatite, with a maximum tensile pull-out force of 120N, which fully meets the fixation strength requirements for small animal joint capsule and ligament reconstruction.
